ABOUT

Daniel Schallau is a published American children's book illustrator known for his intricate and imaginative drawings.

I enjoy playing with scale.  for example, if I take a normal sized object, such as a leaf, and then add a character, like a rabbit, but much smaller than normal size, it makes the leaf appear super sized.

SCALE

By adding a rabbit riding atop a leaf, it makes the leaf bigger than it really is.

Daniel has a degree in architecture, but he much prefers creating imaginary architectural wonders, instead.

-NEWS-

Most of Daniel's illustrations are drawn using colored pencil and ink on paper.  Recently, he switched to drawing on an iPad Pro.

"The Apple Pencil is an amazing new way I can draw just as I always have, but digitally instead."
